چکیده

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to determine if depressed women undergoing breast reconstruction have worse outcomes? Despite a plethora of data examining the effect of depression after reconstruction there is little information to assess if concurrent depression affects patient outcomes in a similar manner. To answer this question we undertook a retrospective study using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS).

ANATOMY OF THE SUPERFICIAL INFERIOR EPIGASTRIC ARTERY FLAP

ABSTRACT Background: Several case studies have described the use of the superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flap as a pedicled flap for reconstruction of upper and lower ex tremities, or a free fasciocutaneous flap when a large amount of skin coverage is required for hemifacial atrophy, breast or head and neck reconstruction. Apparently, the anatomical findings of previous studies ar...

The Superficial Inferior Epigastric Artery Flap and its Relevant Vascular Anatomy in Korean Women

BACKGROUND Lower abdominal soft tissue transfer is the standard procedure for breast reconstruction. However, abdominal wall weakness and herniation commonly occur postoperatively at the donor site. To reduce the morbidities of the donor site, the superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flap was introduced, but inconsistent anatomy of the SIEA has reduced its utility. In the present study...

The anatomy of superficial inferior epigastric artery flap.

PURPOSE To describe the anatomical variations of superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flap as a muscle-sparing flap. METHODS A series of 40 dissections were performed on 20 preserved or fresh male cadavers. The site origin and drainage of vessels, caliber, length, and correlation between diameter and length of pedicle were identified. RESULTS The SIEA and SIEV were identified at in...

The importance of the superficial venous anatomy of the abdominal wall in planning a superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flap: case report and clinical study.

The importance of the venous drainage of the anterior abdominal wall to free tissue transfer in deep inferior epigastric artery perforator flap surgery has been highlighted in several recent publications in this journal, however the same attention has not been given to superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flaps, in which the flap necessarily relies on the superficial venous drainage. W...
